The pre- school contributes to the formation of the identity of
boys and girls, as a privileged and special place for meetings,
experiences and learning. Our pre-school’s “Enchanted Forest” begins
with this important fact by always putting the well-being of children at

the centre of its interventions by planning activities that promote
their development of all levels: social, cognitive, emotional etc., always
remembering the importance of play and imagination.

Our school obtained parity in June 2010 and has since perfected its
educational-didactic activities more and more by characterising itself
(after a 6-month Specialization Course at the end of which all the

teachers gained their Diploma in May 2013 , in Brescia at the Pasquali-
Agazzi Institute) as a School of didactic differentiation according to

the Agazzi Method, therefore adopting an alternative educational
practice which is included in the context of the current Ministerial
Rosa and Carolina Agazzi were two important pedagogists of the late
nineteenth century, who dedicated their entire lives to caring for
children, coming to the conclusion that children learn from experience
and must be orderly, autonomous and always curious to know.

They made Mompiano create a school that would interpret those
indispensable elements which would then be the basis and structuring
of this method: water, light, air, space. For this reason, among our
school activities there are those that are considered routine which
cover a great educational value, typical of the Agazzian methodology,
and can be schematized into: activities of practical life (equipment and
tidying of tables, reorganization of personal items, reorganization of
playing material, care and hygiene, food distribution to classmates,
mutual help between older and younger children); verbalization of
personal experiences, observation of natural events, sharing with
teachers and companions of experiences and emotions; gardening and

vegetable garden activities (for example, care of outdoor and indoor
plants, sowing, …); activities for the development of logical thinking
(daily calendar, time calendar, assignment poster, daily attendance
poster, …).

Educational choices
During teaching college, our specialised teachers share and assume the
key points of the Agazziana proposal which are identified as the
– Recognition of the importance of the child in the training project as
“an essential being” that aspires to its integral, physical, intellectual
and moral development”
– The notion of freedom and order as a transversal dimension that
characterizes each phase of the educational day;
– Respect for the child as a person, with empathic listening methods,
activating strategies that can encourage the expression of their needs
and their acceptance in all subjects (also through the structuring and
re-structuring of the environment, a peaceful and breathable climate ,
targeted observations, daily comparison between teachers, …);
– Ensuring the child aquires autonomy through “practical life” activities
with the help of “grown-ups”;
– strengthening the child’s relationship with nature as a fundamental
ingredient for the acquisition of the ecological senses;
– Attention to the school-family relationship to build relationships of
trust and new bonds of continuity.

In our “Enchanted Forest” pre-school, there are 3 classes with an
imaginative name:
– 1st Class “Wise Oak”
– 2nd Class “Magic Mushrooms”
– 3rd Class “Playful Squirrels”
Children are divided into age groups according to the following names:
Gnomes – Children 3 years
Goblins – Children 4 years
Giants – Children 5 years
The classes are designed; for a group of max 25 children per classroom
and heterogeneous by age (as far as possible), during reception time,
during teaching activities (morning and afternoon), during lunch and as
a meeting of the homogeneous group by age, after the settling-in
period (intersection). In the classroom, in addition to the standard

furniture (tables, chairs, cabinets containing games or materials for
various activities), there are also personal drawers where each child
can store drawings, objects brought from home or “precious” things
found in the garden, a table of daily tasks, a dish pantry and

The personal drawer represents the revised version of the “individual
box” designed and manufactured by Rosa Agazzi.

In each class there is also a large mat which, in addition to serving as a
play space, also defines the corner of “conversation “. Here the
children sit together with the educator to talk, to tell a story, to play
with constructions and large puzzles or to perform some routine
Settling-in Period
The settling-in period of new enrolled children takes place gradually,
also for this 2017/2018 school year the “Gnomes” (children of 3 years)
will start a week in advance with respect to the official start date of
the nursery, that is Monday September 4 to allow a positive adaptation
and getting to know the teachers, new play areas and activities
dedicated exclusively to them. “Goblins and Giants” as per School
Calendar Monday 11 September.
In the first week parents are requested to be present if possible from
10.00 to 11.30; the second week is part-time including lunch and
hometime at 13.00; then full time, obviously respecting the needs and
times of each child and family commitments.
School day

The school day starts at 8.30 am, but can be anticipated from 7.10.
Reception ends at 9.30 and the didactic activities begin. The first
finishing time is from 13:00 to 13.30 and the second finishing time is
from 15.30 to 16.00 with the option to remain until 18.00. The school
also offers a playroom service on Saturdays from 8.30 to 13.30.
School projects
In addition to the educational activities and creative workshops
designed and programmed by the teachers, boys and girls participate in
three other weekly school projects held by external experts:
Small Steps in Sport – Psychomotor Project, twice a week
Little English- English language project from 3 years, once a week
Musigiocando- Preparatory Musical Project, once a week
